Fellow of the ABFA

The American Board of Forensic Accounting™ and its members are dedicated to the development and advancement of the field of forensic accounting. It is the Board’s aspiration to publicly advocate the value of skilled, professional forensic accounting services, as well as create and maintain standards of excellence within the field.

In order to achieve these goals, the Board grants the Certified Forensic Accountant® (CRFAC®), GFA Government Forensic Accountant (ABGOV®), Registered Forensic Investigator RFI, and Certified Forensic Auditor (CRFAU) credentials to individuals who demonstrate knowledge and competence in professional forensic accounting services in a multitude of areas.

Additionally, to recognize significant professional achievements and contributions to the field of forensic accounting, the Board may bestow the designation of Diplomate. To further recognize the continued dedication, professional excellence, and active participation in the field, the Board may award its highest designation of Fellow.

Once you have been awarded the Diplomate designation, and after five years of service as a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Accounting DABFA®, you may apply for the Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Accounting FABFA® designation. This prestigious designation is awarded after the Board reviews the application and work history of the applicant plus the applicant is able to demonstrate through professional and academic accomplishments that they have mastered the field of forensic accounting. This designation is subjective in nature and is based on the Board’s opinion as to if an individual should be awarded the designation along with our due diligence process and continuing education requirements.
